A Really Annoying Rich People Secret I Learned On Wall Street

Our reading notes on Codie Sanchez

• MrBallen: How to Tell Stories Better Than 99% of People (Do This)

On Sanchez’s show, guest MrBallen explains how a small amount of biographical context can carry the opening of a story. The episode pairs that idea with a simple three-point structure and deliberate silence. For someone telling a customer story, an opening detail earns its place when the later decision depends on it.

• Codie Sanchez: These “Boring Businesses” Will Make You Rich

The hosts ask Sanchez how she sets criteria for an acquisition and how owner compensation affects the apparent earnings of a small business. The discussion makes the owner’s labor visible. A listing’s figures still need reconciliation with records and the cost of doing that work after a handover.

• The Illusion of Safety

Sanchez frames reliance on one employer as a concentration risk and draws on her experience running a laundromat while working in finance. She recalls having to fix machines and cover for missing staff. Someone considering a side business can use those details to ask whether an additional income stream also depends on the same scarce hours.
