The Best Type Of Employee

Our reading notes on Codie Sanchez

• The Illusion of Safety

Sanchez frames reliance on one employer as a concentration risk and draws on her experience running a laundromat while working in finance. She recalls having to fix machines and cover for missing staff. Someone considering a side business can use those details to ask whether an additional income stream also depends on the same scarce hours.

• MrBallen: How to Tell Stories Better Than 99% of People (Do This)

On Sanchez’s show, guest MrBallen explains how a small amount of biographical context can carry the opening of a story. The episode pairs that idea with a simple three-point structure and deliberate silence. For someone telling a customer story, an opening detail earns its place when the later decision depends on it.

• Stop Creating Businesses. Buy One Instead.

Bob Safian asks Sanchez how an owner builds a business that can run without them. She describes looking at operating data every 90 days and revising the system in response. Her exchange with Safian comes after an interview with another founder, so follow the speaker labels when comparing the two accounts.
