Package what you know or keep working with users?

Naval Ravikant and Sam Altman supply different tests for deciding when a repeated task deserves a product.

Read the two arguments

Social Signal Playbook brings together two separately published works. The interpretation and exercise are the editors’.

Naval Ravikant

Ravikant and Nivi use their podcast to illustrate how an explanation can reach more than one listener. Recording something once makes repeated delivery possible while leaving its usefulness for listeners to judge.

Sam Altman

Altman asks founders to learn whether early users value a product enough to return or recommend it. A growth target can hide the difference between initial curiosity and continued use.

A decision in practice

An accountant keeps explaining the same expense rule to new studio owners. A short guide would free time for harder questions. But a guide that owners cannot apply to a real receipt simply moves the confusion into their inbox. Packaging one explanation is cheap enough to test before developing a complete course.

Try it yourself

Give the explanation to one new user with a real example. Watch where they need help, revise that step, and check whether they can apply it a second time without you.
