Debate / Editorial comparison
How would you tell if a founder’s posts are working?
Dave Gerhardt’s founder-led publishing and Chris Walker’s approach to revenue experiments put different demands on a first test.

Read the two arguments
Social Signal Playbook brings together two separately published works. The interpretation and exercise are the editors’.
Dave Gerhardt
Gerhardt’s book starts with the founder’s story and experience as material a company can publish. A reader can connect a concrete decision to the person who made it.
Chris Walker
In his interview about revenue experiments, Walker distinguishes creating interest from helping an interested buyer act. A test needs a measure that corresponds to what the program is meant to change.
A decision in practice
A founder writes about a failed installation and the fix. An operations manager replies with a similar problem. That reply is evidence of recognition. It does not establish that a particular contract came from the post. Before publishing the next account, the team can decide whether it needs more conversations like this or evidence that existing prospects are moving forward.
Try it yourself
Write down the question the founder can answer from experience. Choose one observable response that would justify a second post. In the review, preserve the actual replies alongside any tracked sales activity so the two can be examined separately.
